Cash Flow Tools gives you a real-time view of your company's cash position by connecting directly to your business bank accounts. Track where your money is coming from, where it's going, and forecast what's ahead.

Cash Flow Tools includes:

Dashboard — your central view for monitoring cash movement, analyzing trends, and building forecasts

Calendar View — a day-by-day view of your cash activity

Transactions — a detailed list of every transaction across your accounts, where you can search, filter, and categorize

Getting Started

To use Cash Flow Tools, you'll need to connect your business bank accounts through Plaid on the Integrations page. More info on how to do that here (INSERT URL when doc is created).

Once connected, Kordis automatically keeps your transaction data and balances up to date.

How Your Bank Data Gets Into Kordis

After linking your bank accounts, Kordis pulls in your transaction history and current balances. Here's what to know about how that works:

Only posted transactions appear. Kordis only brings in transactions that have fully cleared at your bank. Pending authorizations — like a hold from a gas station or a recent card swipe that hasn't settled — won't show up until they've posted. This ensures the numbers you see in Kordis match what your bank considers final.

Up to 12 months of history on first connect. When you first link a bank account, Kordis pulls up to 12 months of transaction history, depending on what your bank makes available. After that, new transactions are pulled in automatically as they post.

Your data stays up to date automatically. After the initial sync, Kordis receives updates from your bank as new transactions post. New activity typically appears within a few hours of settling at your bank. There's nothing you need to do to keep it current.

Balances are reconstructed from your transaction history. Kordis uses your current bank balance along with your full transaction history to calculate what your balance was at any point in the past. This is how features like Starting Cash Balance and the period-by-period table work — they're built from your actual transaction data.

Credit Card Accounts

If you link a credit card account through Plaid, those transactions are tracked separately from your main cash flow. This is because credit card spending represents debt, not actual cash leaving your bank account. The real cash impact of credit card spending shows up when you make a payment from your bank account.

You can still view and categorize your credit card transactions in the Transactions page under the Credit Card Transactions tab.

How Transactions Are Categorized

Every transaction that comes into Kordis is sorted into one of two buckets:

Cash In — money that has moved into your bank account

Cash Out — money that has left your bank account

Within each bucket, transactions are further organized as either Operating (standard business activities) or Non-Operating (other cash movements not related to core operations).

New transactions start as "Uncategorized." When a transaction first comes in from your bank, Kordis labels it as "Uncategorized - Operating" under Cash In or Cash Out depending on the direction of the money.

Kordis learns your categorization patterns. When you categorize a transaction from a specific vendor — say you move a "Spectrum Business" transaction to "Utilities" — you can choose to apply that category to all transactions from that vendor. From that point on, any new transaction from Spectrum Business will automatically be categorized as Utilities. This means the more you categorize, the less manual work you'll need to do over time.

You can manage all of your categorization in the Transactions page. Categories you set there are reflected everywhere — on the Dashboard, in the Calendar View, and in your forecasts.

Weeks in Kordis

When viewing data in weekly intervals, Kordis defines a week as Sunday through Saturday. For example, a week labeled "Jan 05–11, 2025" includes all transactions that posted from Sunday, January 5th through Saturday, January 11th. If a week spans two months, the label will reflect both (e.g., "Dec 29–Jan 04, 2025").
